I really liked this book. Not knowing too much about it before I added it to my list I did not have any negative baggage to carry into it. I was at first surprised my the narrative of the elder Jacob but as the book progressed I looked forward to his moments. I read a few interviews with the author about how she came about events in the book and it made me like it even more. I would recommend this as a great weekend read as it is an easy read. The switch between past and present is seamless and adds much more to the story. There are so many books that end with me wanting to know "but what happened AFTER that" and with the elder Jacob, you find out.
